Butch Heavilin Memorial Dog Park Fund

Butch Heavilin was one of the best-known residents in the Atwood Lake region.  The reason was due to his best friends, his Standard Poodles, named Taz and Sadie. The dogs went with Butch nearly everywhere and probably were as well-known as Butch himself.

In his memory, Butch Heavilin's family and friends established the Butch Heavilin Memorial Dog Park Fund for the development and operation of a fenced park area. The park is devoted to dogs and their handlers as a way to exercise, relax and play beside Atwood Lake. All contributions donated to the fund are exclusively earmarked for development and maintenance of the Dog Park. The fund has already been used to add a number of amenities to the Dog Park, including a water fountain, signage, fencing, and benches.

The Butch Heavilin Memorial Dog Park is located on Shop Road, just before the Atwood Lake Park entrance gate. The Dog Park is free and open to the public.

The Butch Heavilin Atwood Lake Dog Park Fund is a component of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation and all contributions are tax deductible. For more information about the fund, contact the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation at (330) 556-4810 or toll-free at (877) 363-8500 extension 2222.
