Regis Wissler Endowment Fund

Seneca Park remembers DAC member

Regis "Rick" Wissler spent many summer nights enjoying the campgrounds and his numerous friends at Seneca Lake Park.

Thanks to the Regis Wissler Endowment Fund, others will be able to have their own good times at the park for years to come.

Wissler, 53, who spent many years camping at the park and resided in the Greater Pittsburgh area, died in 2003. Through the establishment of the Regis Wissler Endowment Fund by his family, several projects to benefit the park have been made possible.

New benches were purchased and installed around the hiking trails in the park. The park staff also has committed to making various improvements around the trails for easier access and enjoyment.

"We are very pleased and humbled that the Wissler family thought enough of the park and lake to want to establish a fund for improvements and enhancements," Park Superintendent Gary Parrish said. "Funds from this endowment will be strictly used for projects at Seneca Lake Park and we will work very hard to ensure we identify improvements that benefit our guests."

Wissler, who retired as a firefighter, also served many years as a member of the Development Advisory Committee of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District. His wife Bonnie has filled his seat on the DAC.

The Wissler fund is a component fund of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation, Inc., and is managed by the MWCF.
