Atwood Lake Trail Plan Public Meeting - August 27

August 9, 2012

August 9, 2012

A second public meeting to discuss the development of a multi-purpose trail master plan for the Atwood Lake Region is scheduled August 27 at 7 p.m. at the Dellroy Community Fire Station located at 5 N. Ohio St.
The purpose of the public meeting is to provide an update on the Atwood Trail Plan and gain input from the general public. Village of Dellroy, Atwood Lake area residents and Atwood Lake users are encouraged to attend.
Trail and greenway planning experts from the Environmental Design Group will be joined at the meeting by Dan Rice, executive director of the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition, and staff from the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD).
For more details, contact Nick Lautzenheiser at the MWCD at (330) 556-4831, or via e-mail at nick@mwcd.org.
The Atwood Lake Trail plan is being funded through a grant from the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation, Inc. (MWCF).
The MWCF is a publicly supported charitable organization initially organized in 1996 that is dedicated to supporting the mission of the MWCD. While the MWCF is completely independent from the MWCD, with its own Board of Trustees, it has developed charitable funds that support improvements and programs on and around MWCD facilities.
Some of the projects it has funded or assisted in funding include development of a dog park at Atwood Lake Park, a new ranger cruiser at Charles Mill Lake Park, play equipment at various locations, safety and response equipment for a ranger cruiser at Pleasant Hill Lake Park, courtesy boat docks at Tappan Lake, an oil tank for FFA Camp Muskingum located at Leesville Lake, automated external defibrillator (AED) devices at many MWCD facilities, a weather warning system for the Seneca Lake Park region and ice rescue equipment for the Village of Carrollton. Since 2008, approximately $100,000 has been awarded by the MWCF for projects.
Several charitable funds have been established to assist with specific projects or lake locations, or for general projects and improvements at specific lakes. For more details about the foundation, visit www.muskingumfoundation.org.
