Foundation Awards Three Grants

The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation Board of Trustees approved three grants totaling nearly $6,300 at its January 31, 2014 meeting. The grants will support projects and programs within the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD).
The MWCD was awarded $3,225 from the Charitable Endowment Fund to purchase ice rescue suits and equipment for Piedmont Lake. The equipment will be housed at the Piedmont Marina and available for use by trained MWCD staff and trained local responders, if requested.
The Massillon Museum was awarded $2,000 from the Charitable Endowment Fund and $500 from the Crossroads RC&D Conservation Fund to support educational programming relative to its Fragile Waters photography exhibition. The exhibit will be at the Massillon Museum between June 7 and September 14, 2014.
The Harrison Soil and Water Conservation District was awarded approximately $600 from the Crossroads RC&D Conservation Fund to pruchase equipment to support its Tree Workshop. The Tree Workshop is scheduled for March 29, 2014 in Cadiz and will provide information on proper planting, trimming, pest management, and general care for trees.
